Ja's New Beginning
Thursday, January 7, 2010
It has been nearly a week since Ja embarked on his new journey in his primary school. Many have been asking how he is, whether or not is he able to adapt to the new lifestyle and his new environment. Honestly, I was a bit or rather very anxious since Sunday. Cos like many of you, I was not sure if he being so playful and carefree in nature, was able to settle down in the Singapore education system.
On sunday night after church, we brought him to Jurong Point to let him enjoy his "last night" of freedom. Of course first stop being the arcade at the "Animal Kaizer" which is now the lastest craze of many students.

ON Mon, all of us woke up at 5.30am to show him our support! Honestly, it feels good to wake up so early! The air is indeed fresher and you seem to have lots of time too:) Ja boy was very spontaneous and woke up immediately and he even wanted to take a hot shower to freshen himself!

Ja and a very excited daddy
By the way, Ck has been praying over Ja and anointing him with oil before sending him down stairs. It seems like Ja knows what is happening and he will bow his head to receive the prayers of blessings his daddy would say over him! A great start daily!

Ja and his "Tak-Glam" mum!

All ready to set off! His Gonggong and PoPo bought him the jacket from KL! It was put to good use every morning!
As it was raining cats and dogs, we couldnt really track his school bus thus Ck and I went to the RailMall along Upper Bukit Timah to have our super early breakfast of Roti Prata at the Ah Mei Kaya stall.
Then after, we proceed to his school at Bukit Timah Pri to meet up with Ja. He was already seated for assembly and Silent Reading when we arrived.

All the parents and students jamming the assemby area
The funiest thing was, when he took out his book "Clifford the Big Red Dog" to read, his classmate, a girl took out an Enid Blyton book which was very thick and full of words!! You should have seen Ja's face when he saw that book! Ck and I were giggling as it felt quite "paiseh" to be reading his book when his neighbour was reading a thick one!! Hahaha peer pressure!

See Ja's look on his face as he was looking at the "powerful" classmate!!
We also dropped by during his recess time and Ja was already savouring his bowl of fishball noodles and a glass of "Kickapo"!!!

See Ja enjoying his glass of "Kickapo"?
He was so excited about recess and said that was his favourite part of his school!!! HE also had a Pri 5 buddy attached to him for the whole of this week! His buddy Gerald will be showing him where to place his used cutlery, where to wash his hands, the toilets etc. I thought it was good to have a buddy for a week and that really helped Ja to settle down in his new school!

Ja and his buddy Gerald (Think Ja looks more at home than his shy buddy:))
School officially ends at 1.30pm after which he will be taking a schoolbus to a student care centre near Palm Garden where his "Yee Nai Nai (Ck's auntie) works as a pre school teacher too. We thought it will be good for him to go there so that he can complete his homework under the supervision of the teachers and when he goes home in the evening, he can just bathe, have his dinner, watch TV and relax before bedtime at 9.30pm.
As for Jewjew, she definitely feels the difference as her gorgor is now out of the house for more than 12 hours daily! In fact for the first dew days, she kept saying "GorGor Gorgor.. no more..." as she goes into his room. Poor thing! Perhaps its time for her to join a play group so that she can be occupied with more things rather than being cooped up at home!
Ja was telling me during dinner 2 days ago: "Mum, I think I have grown up!"
Yes indeed, my boy has grown and I can see that over this one week, he has become more responsible and mature! Well, that means I also have to change my lifestyle which was easier said than done!
For one, I cant really get to sleep at 10pm!! My eyes are just wide open! And though I have no difficulty waking up at 5.30am, I realised I cant go back to sleep after that though my body is tired! Every night, I find myself busy sharpening pencils, checking his bag, preparing his books etc. Of course, eventually he will have to do all these himself. But I thought I let him settle down for another 1 week before throwing him with more responsibilities!
Well done, Ja!! We are so proud of you!
